Welcome!

My name is Sam, and I'm a Canadian contemporary impressionistic painter.

I live in Northern Alberta, Canada, on our small acreage for most of the year, and winter away with my family to warm climates-usually to our second home-Mexico. 

Everyday I am struck by the beauty of nature, how it grounds us and constantly puts everything into perspective.

My work usually focuses on elements found in nature:

a moody sky, a budding flower, an animals' expression, the reflections on water, the decay and cracks in bone, the glow from a candle's flame.

A single lifetime isn't enough time for me to study and inspect even a small fraction of the incredible places, objects and feelings that we can find by simply going outside and being present.

 Each piece I make is a study where I get to dissect and examine every part of the picture; I wouldn't wish to be doing anything else.
